Adult Fellowship Activities In addition to the activities listed below, the Adult Fellowship Committee also schedules progressive dinners, church picnics, and soup luncheons on a regular basis. Presbyterian Women of North Presbyterian Church Women of North Church group together to build leadership, raise and study issues, engage in worship, enter into fellowship with each other and the congregation, and serve in this church and the wider community. All women in the church are considered part of Presbyterian Women. Please know that if you are a woman or supporter of women at North Church, we welcome you and wish to know you, your needs, and your gifts. See photos of the "Hats & Music Luncheon" of the Presbyterian Women that took place in Westminster Hall on October 25, 2008. The Circles The Circles are small groups that gather regularly to provide an inclusive, caring community of women. Each circle considers itself an integral part of the Presbyterian Women and uses PW resources to strengthen this connection. The socializing and sharing of these groups provide a powerful source of fellowship, support, and guidance. Circles determine their own programs for the year including Bible, mission, and issue study; service projects; and the development of prayer life and creative work. Involvement within the community includes volunteering at the Oakwood Health Center, assisting with Salvation Army Christmas toy distribution, serving at the Loaves and Fishes Dining Room, and collecting food for the local food pantries. Three circles exist at the present time. These groups are open to new members and, if sufficient interest exists, a new circle may be formed. Martha Circle – Meets the second Tuesday of each month in the afternoon from September through June. Meetings are held in members’ homes, with rotating leadership. Ruth-Mary Circle – Meets the second Wednesday of each month at the church in the Dickinson Room at 9:30 a.m. Leadership is shared. Sarah Circle – Meets the second Wednesday of the month at 7:30 p.m. in members’ homes. Needlers - The Needlers Group makes prayer shawls and distributes them to church members and others who may be in distress - they have made 137 as of last count!
Women of North Church are committed to celebrating their gifts of ministry. The richness and diversity of the gifts of women are vital and an integral part of our congregation’s life. The gifts of the young, the retired, the employed, and the single are continually celebrated as we welcome an inclusive and caring community of women empowered to respond to God’s call. Tuesday Breakfast Interesting and informal discussions about life in the church and in the world (i.e., whatever topic seems relevant) take place at the Sheridan Family Restaurant on Sheridan Drive at 7:00 a.m. on most Tuesdays. This is a chance to get to know members of the congregation in an informal setting, and first-time participants are most welcome!! Men's Group - Exciting New Information and Photos Annual Church Picnic Each June, we gather together in the playground in back of the church for food, games, and fellowship with our church family. Wish You Were Here North Church members stay connected during the summer months through a postcard board in Westminster Hall. It is interesting to see where everyone has traveled, and it is nice to know that we are thought of by church members while we are far from home.
