Our History
We are a family of some 600 members who have been an active congregation within the Western New York region for more than 160 years. Beginning as a small congregation in the city of Buffalo, New York, in 1847, our congregation gradually moved north and east over the years to different sites within the city and beyond as demographic changes occurred. Ground was broken for the present suburban location in Williamsville, N.Y. in 1954, and in October 2005, we celebrated our 50th anniversary at 300 North Forest Road.
Today, our congregation consists of a relatively wide diversity of people by age, backgrounds, education, income, and beliefs. As a family of Christians, we are devoted to providing imaginative educational programming for our children, youth, and adults; we care deeply about the well-being of each other and our fellowship together; we have a strong commitment to a variety of mission ministries, both locally and beyond, for youth and adults; we enjoy our ministry of music that includes our adult and children's choirs, bell choirs, and sacred dance choir; and we have acquired over the years the favorable reputation of being a congregation that is willing to experiment with new forms of worship and ministry. |
