Our Ministry in Music

The Adult Choir
The Adult Choir, which is for persons in the ninth grade or older, sings a variety of music during the Morning Worship and offers special music during the Christmas season, Lent, and Easter. For special choral works, persons from the congregation are encouraged to augment the choir even though they may not be able to sing regularly throughout the year. The choir rehearses Thursdays at 7:45 p.m. in the choir room, and warms up on Sunday mornings at 10:15. New members are encouraged to join this ministry of music.

Children's/Youth Choirs
These choirs are for children and youth currently enrolled in grades 2-8. They rehearse together on Tuesday evenings from 6:30 to 7:30 in the basement choir room - S152. All children are welcome. Special events include a Christmas pageant and occasional musicals or cantatas. Children younger than 2nd grade have the opportunity to experience music during GodZone time on Sunday mornings.

The Sacred Dance Choir
The Sacred Dance Choir meets weekly to design and practice interpretive movements to music, scriptures, and stories for the church. The choir participates in worship at North Church and other churches, and also provides educational programs. The Sacred Dance Choir is open to members age 15 and older. No previous dance experience is required. Rehearsals are each Thursday evening at 6:15 in the Sanctuary.

The Handbell Choirs
We currently have two handbell choirs.  One is our youth handbell choir, which is for individuals enrolled in grades 6-9.  They rehearse together on Tuesday evenings from 7:30 to 8:30 in the choir room.  This choir plays musical selections throughout the year. 

In addition, we also have the adult handbell choir, which is for ages 15 and older.  It is an experienced group, but is able to "fold in" new ringers who have musical experience.  Rehearsals are at 6:30 on Thursday evenings prior to adult choir practice.  The adult choir also participates in some local handbell festivals and workshops, and it has a few quartets and quintets that play on special occasions. 

Of note is the fact that our Malmark handbells have recently been extended to include a four-octave range.
